In the past, my impression of CNR was that I came here to study and study. I didn't know that there was a majestic Taiwan Museum near the 228 Park. The historic and magnificent building is like being in an exotic corridor. Before going to the UK, we would go to the British Museum, and we in Taiwan, let's also visit our own Taiwan Museum😄
There are two Taiwan Museums next to 228 Park, namelyMain Building,as well asPaleontology Museum. If you buy tickets on the same day and visit the two museums together, the full ticket is only 30 yuan, which is a cheap and fun place for the whole family to travel. If you are traveling with children, it is highly recommended to visit the Paleontology Museum. There are large dinosaur fossils and many animal specimens.

Taiwan Museum|Paleontology Museum
During the Japanese occupation of the Paleontology Museum, it was a large bank called Quanye Bank. After the Sino-Japanese War, the Japanese devoted themselves to developing a sound financial system, and thus gave birth to such a stable and elegant bank. Quanye Bank then became the head office of the Land Bank, and later became what it is today. Because of the high and column-free space inside, after complex restoration of monuments, huge dinosaur fossils are now displayed.
We just caught up with the afternoon tour that day"History and Architecture of the Paleontological Museum”, mainly explaining how the building worked in the past. Many things in the museum can be understood by looking at the signs, but only the materials, principles and history of the building are not written on it, so it is very worthwhile to follow the guide to understand these. The tour takes about an hour, and if you have time, friends are also recommended to participate, and there is no need to pay extra.
The Paleontology Museum also exhibits "Permanent Exhibition on the Restoration of Old Buildings of Quanye Bank", "Land Bank History Exhibition", and "Paleontology Exhibition - The Epic of Life and the Dance of Evolution". The exhibition hall of the Paleontology Museum used to be a big bank. In addition to the fossils, there are also bank-related exhibitions here. You can visit the old vault, the president's office and the old business hall of the former bank.
After listening to the guide and walking into the two-story vault, we all found it very interesting~ The tour guide also knocked on the wall of the vault, which was made of genuine copper and iron. It used to be full of gold. , coins, deeds and bonds!
The walls above the business hall are carved and decorated, some white and some yellow can be seen. The white part was later restored by a restorer of monuments, while the darker yellow is the original one. The construction method at that time was very unique, and the restoration process also invited local Japanese masters to assist, and it was successfully restored after a lot of difficulties and hard work.
Here comes the Paleontology Exhibition that both adults and children like! What catches the eye is a super huge dinosaur fossil, a Yellow River dragon reaching the ceiling, occupying the line of sight. The guide said that the dinosaur fossils here are not real fossils, but 1:1 replicas. Although it's not real, it looks lifelike, with mottled bones and arrangements, and the scene is still very attractive!
There is only one real fossil at the scene. It is the sperm whale hanging from the ceiling. This sperm whale was the one whose stomach exploded in the news many years ago, and is now placed in the Taiwan Museum.
Taiwan Museum|Main Building
The museum is located opposite the Palaeontological Museum, and you can see it across the road. Different from the Paleontology Museum, this museum has a more ornate feel, and there are more exhibitions about Taiwan's people (aboriginal people), land (diverse and rich geology), animals and plants. The most popular one is the animal area, which has various specimens, and gathers a lot of children who like animals, which is very lively!
Taipei has nowhere to go on a rainy day. It is also very good to visit the museum. It just took a long time to pass without knowing it. After visiting the two museums, you can also go to the 228 Park next to it. The park is very big, and it is easy to walk Very comfortable. After today, I found that the museum is more fun than we both imagined. In addition to these two museums, the Taiwan Museum also has the South Gate Museum and the North Gate's Ministry of Railways Park, but these two are farther away. I will visit again next time!
